FM 12.0, alas, and not as often as it used to be … but I thought I had most of the usual keyboard shortcuts in muscle memory, and now I seem to have lost some: top of file / bottom of file? esc, b, f is still there to make the insertion point catch up with the display :-}

A colleague wants to include a URL after a level 2 heading, on the same line – to save space on the page – but not in the ToC.
"Easy!" I thought, and started setting up a run-in heading … but it didn't do what I'd hoped for, because I'm already using the 'across all columns and sideheads' option: as soon as I select 'run-in', the heading skips neatly inside the main column. Any tips for how to achieve the desired layout will be welcome.

we need to convert a large amount of cross references to plain text. Are you aware of a script that can do this, or do you have any recommendations? The xrefs partially reference the titles of the target chapters, but partially they also contain a manually written link text.

I have a page what generate automatically the numbers of some pages in a list of paragraphs
but in the cas of double pages the process generates pagen1/x instead of pagen1/pagen2,
so I want to make a script what replace the /x by /pagen+1.
I think I did arrived to arrive to the paragraph (it alert yes at the step what should be doing what I asked) but I don't actually know how to make this replacement, can someone help me ?
I am getting unwanted shadows around grapics when printing. No matter what format of image I paste into a graphics or anchored frame, when I print it out there are hazy shadows around each part of the image particularly for flow chart type images. I am using Frame 2015. Thanks for any advice.
I've got an Arabic Right-to-Left document in which everything is working correctly except for a few paragraph styles with hanging indents. The paragraph alignment setting of these paragraphs is Justified. The right indent and first-line indent are working correctly on the right side so that the bullet point or Arabic Indic number appears correctly in the hanging area on the right. However, the first line of these paragraphs also exhibits a first-line indent on the left side, which is not supposed to happen. The remaining lines in the paragraphs are correctly justified (straight) on the left side with no indent. Have I found a bug?

I just signed up for Adobe Stock as I need some background images for a project I'm working on. I've used Framemaker for many years now.
I load image #15166609 onto a Master Page of my document. When I try to create the PDF, it hangs every single time. At first I didn't know why this was occurring and I went thru a painstaking process of eliminating variables until only one was left; image # 15166609.
I can't use this image altho other images I've set as background on a Master Page work fine.
Anyway know if this is a bug? anamoly? corrupted file?
Appreciate any feedback.

I just upgraded from FrameMaker 12 to Framemaker 2017. In FM 2017, when I open the Format > Paragraphs menu, only some paragraph formats are displayed, as shown in the image below. If I want to choose a format that is not shown I must use the arrow to navigate the formats. In FM12, paragraph formats were displayed in columns so that one could see all paragraph formats at once. I find this very frustrating at the moment, as this is very inefficient. How can I revert back to the previous behaviour?

I am using structured Framemaker and have created an index. I want to format this index so it doesn't use the standard Times New Roman font but I can't see how. I have another index from another document that has the formatting that I want. I copied this index into my project and renamed it, but when I do Edit - Update book, it does not update the index with my index markers (that the index generated with the default Times New Roman text sees), which I thought it would. The text just stays the same.
I have tried looking on the help but can't see how to apply formatting to my index. This is the first index I've created from scratch in FrameMaker, the others I've inherited and just update when I update the book.
Can anyone help me please?

FrameMaker color conversion issue has been discussed at large. I have read through many discussions, but could not find a fix. If this has been discussed already, kindly help me find the correct thread.
We use unstructured FrameMaker (version 9). We generate a PDF output from FrameMaker and an online help (OLH) using WebWorks ePublisher Express.
Due to rebranding, we had to change the heading colors used in our guides.
I created custom colors in the Color Definitions dialog by entering RGB values and used them.
Result:
In the PDF output, colors are correct.
In the OLH, colors look similar but not the same. Color values change.
1. Although I chose the color model to be RGB in the Color Definitions dialog, when FrameMaker (FM) is relaunched, it had changed to CMYK (may be because FM saves colors as CMYK?)
2. In the Color Defintions dialog, I input the CMYK equivalent of the required color instead. This, corrects the color in the OLH but the colors in PDF are wrong.
3. I tried to set "GetLibraryColorRGBFromCMYK" in Maker.ini to None, Printing, and Screen&Printing. None of the setting made a difference. Should it make any difference at all?
Isn't this simply, change the setting to required value, and then launch FrameMaker? Did I miss any step?
4. Then I meddled with the Adobe driver settings a bit. That did not help either.
5. I use "Save as PDF" with "Convert CMYK colors to RGB" enabled to generate a PDF .

I am running FrameMaker 2017.
I have a book with an index. The index contains index words in two levels, like:
Monkey
Gibbon
Chimpanze
Gorilla
When i convert the book to HTML5 using FrameMakers publish feature, I get a nice html5 file.
The html5 version of the index I am able to filter the words (keywords) in the index. But only first level keywords - like "Monkey" in my example. The keywords like "Gibbon", "Chimpanze" are not filtered.
My questions are: Why are these second level keywords not filtered and - is there a way to include them in the filtering besides making them firstleve keywords?
We have two licenses of FM 2012, we want to upgrade to 2017 latest version - how much does it cost? or Can we upgrade our licences?

Ich habe gerade Framemaker 2017 auf Windows 10 installiert. Bei der Installation wird auch der Distiller installiert. Wenn ich aber eine Datei oder ein Buch als PDF speichern möchte (Menü Datei -> Als PDF speichern) erscheint die Meldung "Zum Ausführen des Befehls 'Als PDF speichern' ist Acrobat Distiller 5.05 oder höher erforderlich".
Im System konnte ich den Distiller nicht finden, also wurde er ohne Fehlermeldung nicht installiert!?!?
Ich habe Framemaker bereits drüber installiert, neu installiert und auch eine weitere Installationsdatei verwendet. Es erscheint immer diese Meldung.
Hat jemand eine Lösung?

I want to generate a TOC in framemaker 2017 with its chapnum and paratext on the left side, and tab (.....) in the middle, and Chapnum-pagenum on the right side.
The reference page is designed as follows (on page 2, which I don't know how to make it page 1):
But as I applied all paragraph style to the text in body page, nothing changed, which means I still need to manually add chapnum before patatext and chapnum before pagenum. besides, when I applied style to text, a window popped up as follows.
But I cannot change the column layout for the rotated page contained.
Can anyone help me out of this, thank you.
In F12, table header cells with cross-references do not link in continuing table headers when saved as a PDF. The links only work in the table's initial header. Any solutions?
I've read the tutorials about creating newsletters in unstructured Framemaker, and I can do that. My question is can I do something similar in a structured document.
Specifically, I want to create a master page for the 1st page in each chapter of my book that has 4 sections:
1) The top of the page has an image that is specific for that chapter
2) Underneath the image is a quote that summarizes the chapter contents
3) Below the quote is the beginning of the chapter text.
4) To the left of the body text are callouts that highlight specific passages in the body text, but I'm not trying to address that in this ticket.
My first thought was to create a master page that has 3 sections - the image, the quote and the body. Each chapter has different content for each box (different image, different quote, different text). The body text is easy - it just happens. But I don't see a way to replace the image in the master page with that chapter's image. Is it best for me to create this as a single text frame, or is there a way I can create separate frames on my master page, and then use tags or some other technique to place the proper content in each frame?
