Hi all
I'm using FrameMaker 2017 all patched up (14.0.3). I import an png image (a screen shot at 96 dpi) and I select 150 dpi in the "Imported Graphic Scaling" dialog. However, this doesn't seem to work: the image is scaled to 1.04% of its original size and the dpi is "unknown" in the Object Properties dialog panel pod thing even though I didn't scale the image by dragging one of its corners.
Has anyone else seen this bug?
Cheers
I have an Alert element currently defined as follows:
Element (Container): Alert
General rule: Paragraph+
Attribute list
1. Name: Type Choice Optional
Choices: Warning | Caution | Important | Note
Default: Warning
I would like to have a graphic attached to the beginning of each paragraph within the alert, so it looks like the following:
Is that something I can set up in the EDD?
Hi,
I am using Framemaker 2017, I insert a table in a ditamap, set the table format to relatable, but the added table is a simple table.
And I cannot add topicref in the table?
How to fix this problem?
I’ve been using structured (DITA1.2) FM11 w RH10 about five years with no issues until mid Dec where it crashed for one of 3 versions. The largest ditamap crashed, FM runs out of memory or generates No Topics. Nearly 900 Topics. All elements are valid. I took the entire ditamap and published each section at a time hoping to find the breaking point but each section publishes successfully. When I comment out one section, section X, the entire help except for section X generates. When I comment out everything except for section X, section X generates help. Have I reached a file size limit? Are my settings off, could I have clicked a control
or flipped a flag somewhere?
I had TCS2017 on the shelf, and I upgraded and it will generate the help in section but not the entire file.
Adobe Support suspects a file in the ditamap is corrupt but that can’t be the case because all of the files work when I publish the files in smaller sections. The same files are in the user guides, and those generate.
In the last run no help generated and I got new error; error in generating Help TOC.error - I got this after resetting the templates to the initial out of the box templates.
Any help/ideas/direction is greatly appreciated!
I clicked Edit Settings for Responsive HTML5. I opened the Edit Layout button and changed Show Glossary to false. However, when I publish the help, the glossary tab still displays. How do I remove the glossary tab? I am using FrameMaker 2015 on Windows 7.
Thanks,
Chris
I opened my documents and got a warning message, "Document named Chapter 2.fm uses unavailable fonts. To reformat the document using available fonts, click ok." This same document now produces a .pdf file with white boxes instead of equals signs in my equations. It also changes a few other symbols to white boxes. I am not sure if these two things are linked but I would like help getting rid of the white boxes and getting my equations back to normal.
Hi - I have a question about adjusting equation boundary boxes in FM 2017. I recently discovered that some of our equations were not being rendered in our html help system. After much digging I found that this because we use a special font for our equations, and the software we use to generate our help system has trouble generating sufficient space around certain symbols (e.g., the summation symbol) for this font. Their help has refused to fix the problem, so I'm on my own.
One solution I came up with was to manually increase the size of the bounding box, turning
into
This fixes the problem. However, since there are hundreds of these equations in our documentation, this is not a workable solution (not to mention the danger of carelessly re-shrinkwrapping everything...).
I've been looking at the mif file to see if I can programmatically increase the size of the bounding box (maybe by padding it all around?), but have so far not had much success. I tried increasing the last value in <ShapeRect>, but this only changed the height of the box:
meaning that additional custom adjustments to <MathOrigin> seem necessary to adjust the equation position, which is again not workable.
Is there a better way to do this? I was hoping there was one number or setting I could change to pad all the equations around the bounding boxes, but have not yet found anything.
I have a bookmap in which every chapter references a ditamap that has a title and one top-level topic with some nested topics inside of it.
The problem however is that the title of the submap is also included when I save the bookmap as a pdf. I thought that dita titles of submaps were normally excluded from output but in FrameMaker this does not seem to be the case.
Is there any way around this (without having to remove all the titles form my dita-files)?
It's horrible, the download never ends!
it pauses alone, it resumes from scratch it never ends!
Is there another way to download FrameMaker than the Akamai Downloader channel?
I have a 400 page document that has around 2 tables per page.
On the majority of these tables there is a footnote to explain what xxxxx means.
Someone has changed the text from
xxxxx = The blah blah to
xxxxx=The blah blah
without the spaces.
I want to get the spaces back - but if I do Find and Change it replaces the text where the footnote reference is on the table, and not the text in the actual footnote.
Any ideas if there is any way to get around this.
TIA
In my conversion table I need to pick up font that is marked as bold and assign it to a structure element.
Regular conversion table columns are: Wrap this object or objects | In this element | With this qualifier
So tried this - no luck: C:bold | emphasis[emph=”bold”] |
Additionally, I need to pick that bold font from a specific element only. Like so:
P:i_List_Numbered | item |
I am not sure how to get a character style from under the paragraph.
Any help is appreciated,
By default, Framemaker opens documents as tabs. With Framemaker 2017 (FM 14.0.3.500), when I drag a document tab out of a tab group into into a floating window, the new window is always opened very small (approx. 300 by 250 pixels), and, making things worse, resizing the window is not possible. Also the commands Fit Window To Page and Fit Window To Text Frame are not functioning, which, in effect, makes the floating window unusable.
On the same machine, I do not see this problem with Framemaker 10 or other programs providing similar functionality so I think that this is not a Windows problem but specific to Frame 17. Uninstalling and reinstalling Frame did not resolve the issue.
Any ideas on how to fix this annyoing behavior are highly appreciated. Thanks!

Hello,
I have used change bars in FrameMaker so that reviewers can more easily find the changes made to a document.
Sometimes the changes are rendered in the PDF, but sometimes not.
Can someone explain to me:
A big thanks in advance!
Kind regards,
Fred Gerke
If I click on the Save icon, it doesn't save. It only saves if I exit the document and asks if I want to save.
I have certain formats that are being lost after I save a file. More specifically, I have checkboxes that are one size, I save, exit, open it back up, and they're a different size. I can't get them to stay constant. It's an element imported from an EDD; should I import the EDD again to see if that works?
