FM is corrupting my files when I save a book, leaving temp .fm files, sometimes losing the .fm completely. FM also crashes when I do book updates. It's happened on three separate projects, all using very different templates. All unstructured. I'm on Win10. I've replicated the problems on all three of my Win10 machines, a Surface Pro 3, a Surface Pro 4 and a desktop. I recently rebuilt my Surface Pro 4, so it's completely clean and standard. My projects are stored in Dropbox, but the problem also appears when located on the local disk. No idea what's going on. Help!

Cannot Save As PDF or Print to Adobe PDF successfully from FrameMaker 2015
Hello, all.
I am using FrameMaker 2015 in a Windows 7 environment.
I have attempted to save a .book file as a PDF in two ways:
1. Using the "Save as PDF" option from the File menu. Chokes. Gives me a pdfmark error.
2. Printing to the Adobe PDF printer while NOT selecting "Save to file" and NOT selecting "Generate PDF Data." Works, but does not give me a PDF Table of Contents in left navigation pane. My users expect this. If I choose and set up "Generate PDF Data," it chokes and gives me a pdfmark error.
I successfully saved some of the files from the book to PDF, but others choked and provided various pdfmark errors, with different error IDs.
Since one file choked on page 43, I deleted the content from both pages 42 and 43 and attempted to save to PDF. Same error, still occurred on page 43.
I don't want to have to recreate these chapters from scratch; one is huge. How do I identify the source of the problem within each file, and fix it?

FA_Note_PostActiveDocChange - strange happening
Dear friends,
In my script I have a Notify function to react on certain events.
I have now discovered that FA_Note_PostActiveDocChange triggers although I have only one file open.
Notify is invoked after leaving a function (which works on the document) and just climbing up the return ladder:
Leaving HandleCalcMarkers Leaving Command FA_Note_PostActiveDocChange triggered
FA_Note_PostActiveDocChange is not explained in the FDK reference. Adobe FrameMaker Scripting Guide only mentions it: (Constants.FA_Note_PostActiveDocChange int Value: 105).
My understanding of this constant is that it triggers when I switch from one open document to another. I do not understand why it can trigger with only one document open.
Although this behaviour does not create (as far as I see) any negative effect in the script, I'm suspicious...

table not breaking across columns
I am working on a medical device user manual, 3-columns per page, and there are many warnings and precautions that are set up as tables so that a caution icon can appear to the left of the Warning/Caution text in the first row. Subsequent rows are a different para format.
I need these tables to extend to the bottom of a column before breaking, which is not the behavior I'm seeing. Can anyone help? I'm having the same problem with some of my other paragraph styles.
So they look like this:
Row1 Col1 <cool caution icon> Row1 Col2 WARNING -> para format for these both set to orphans=1, no keep with next/prev set
Row2 - columns are straddled and the specific warning content may go on for 10-15 lines since it is a 3-column format. -> this para format set to orphans =2, no keep with next/prev set.
The table itself has orphan rows = 2, but this is clearly not what is happening. 
Can anyone think of any other reason these are not breaking properly? Thanks in advance!!

Trouble with using Step, sub-step, subsub step elements.
We created a template using Step (1,2,3), Sub-step (a,b,c) and Subsub-step (I, ii, iii) the issue is when using a subsub-step and reverting back to sub-step for example: b.

and we revert here to sub-step, the next should be sub-step
c.
Instead the next is
e.
So, can anyone help. Is there a step missing in the process, a special character missing in the template to make it continue with the next character?
Or is it something else?

Finding the sources linked to a cross-reference target
Hi, I'm using FM8.
I have a book that has a reference chapter of forms, and these forms are xref'd wherever they are mentioned in the rest of the book.
Now, the client has combined six of these forms into one form. Is there a way to find all the places that link to a particular heading so that I can point them to the appropriate new form, or is it easier to just delete the old content and wait for the unresolved xrefs?

Fonts changing from Bold to Regular
I am working with a tech writer who is off-shore, which I mention because I can't just pop over and check her computer, and we are in separate companies so our machines are not configured the same.
We have a set of FrameMaker documentation files that use a font we had to install - the Eras family. On my computer, all the Eras fonts in headings appear in bold font.
I transferred the files to her (after instructing on how to install the fonts and assuming this step was done correctly). She edited the files, then returned them to me and I see that all the headings are in regular font. This is throughout the entire document, so I know it wasn't done manually.
On my computer, when I look at the Paragraph Designer for one of the headings, I have this information:
Family: Eras Medium
Size: 22 pt
Angle: Italic
Weight: Bold
Variation: Regular
Color: Black
etc.
In the files that the other writer edited, the same heading shows as:
Family: Eras Medium
Size: 22 pt
Angle: Italic
Weight: Regular
Variation: Regular
Color: Black
etc.
Any idea on why the weight would have changed?
I am thinking that perhaps the fonts were not correctly installed and some sort of substitution is happening. We have many documents to share so I have to solve the issue.
Question number 2 is: Is there a way to fix the file in which the fonts changed without a tedious process?

Hypertext links in Framemaker do not convert correctly in PDF
I have a problem occurring when I save file or print book to PDF in Framemaker 12. Some of the hypertext links are placed correctly, but some of them are placed over the text immediately preceding the markers, or around a single space immediately preceding the markers, or are not created at all. The problem does not occur with cross reference links. I've tried with the "Create Named Destinations for all Elements and Paragraphs" checkbox checked and unchecked. The documents are localized from English into multiple languages, resulting in my having to manually adjust or create the necessary links in multiple PDFs, which is far too time-consuming to be effective.
Is this just a bug, or is there something I need to be doing to ensure that the link is generated around the correct text in the paragraph? I do have instances where it works as you'd expect, but it seems to be hit or miss.

After installing FrameMaker 12 on a new built Windows 10. FrameMaker will not run, It generates an error message then it will close FrameMaker.

Printing a book
I have five files in a book. The first paragraph format in each file is set to Start anywhere and each file has been set to Delete empty pages before saving. When I print the book, the files all start at the top of a new page. I do not want that. Instead, I want each subsequent file to begin where the previous file left off. Is there a way to do this other than merging all the files into one large file?

I have a parent book in FrameMaker 15 with 12 child books. When I generate the table of contents for the parent book, the chapter numbers for the child books do not increment. I have tried numerous ways to set the numbering for the TOC, but nothing works.

HTML question
I am trying to fix the navigation panel when I publish to HTML. I have Heading 0, 1, and 2. Heading 0 expands to view heading 1 and 2 in that section. I want to do the same for heading 1, where is will expand heading 2 in the section. How do I do this in FrameMaker?

Is it possible to import files from Google Drive directly into FrameMaker with working automatic update?
I am using FM2015 to manage our company's standard operating procedures, which are stored on Google Drive so that any employee may access them to make changes. Is it possible to import a file into FM directly from Google Drive instead of a file on your computer and have the automatic update link work between Google Drive and FM (instead of the link being between FM and a file on your computer)? Error while creating .ps files
Hello,
since a few days im having trouble creating a .pdf file in Framemaker.
The "... save as .pdf" Option has never been working for me, probably because I'm not using system fonts.
The "workaround always has been that I print my file with my adobe pdf printer, save it was .ps file, change in printer settings that it should only use system fonts. Then Framemaker proceeds and creates a .ps file for me, which I could doubleclick and Acrobat Distiller was creating my .pdf-file.
Since a week or so I'm getting the following Distiller-Error message:

Tried calling adobe support but he couldnt help me at all with those error messages and only sent my a couple of Framemaker support links.
Then I thought maybe reinstalling Framemaker will solve the problem but after finishing the installation, i got another error log:

Is it possible to run an ExtendScript function from the FDK?
I have created an ExtendScript function that builds and populates a ScriptUI dialog. It then opens a template selected by the user. This works well and does everything I want it to do. Now the problem is that I need to run it from an FDK menu. This ExtendScript function takes a single argument.
I though that F_ApiCallClient() would be the way to go, but it's not documented for that usage. Has anyone tried to do this and succeeded? Or perhaps I'm overlooking a really obvious way to do it?

Marker Text is not conveying uniformly, (Trying to make an index/glossary)
I don't seem to be able to make my markers work uniformly.
I have a "Glossary" marker.
Each one the Marker Text is input with the AREA: Word; Definition

However others just show the letter (such as "A" or "L") and the definition with no word (marker text) being defined.
Completely skipping AREA and Word.
