Hi,

 

with the publishing menu in FrameMaker 2015 (under files) I try to create a responsive HTML5 help output from a ditamap file. You can see that FM is using a tempory book file during the creation process. After a while FM comes up with the error message "FrameMaker book files could not be found".

 

When I try to create a responsive HTML5 help from the example book "Personal Spaceship User Guide - EN-US.book" (C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\AdobeFrameMaker2015\beispiel\UserGuide(Arabic,English,Hebrew)\English) there will be no error message.

 

Is it not possible to make from a ditamap directly an responsive HTML5 output via the publish pod? Any hints? The output path is working because of the functional by the example book.

Hi, all.

 

My FM template for PDF output has a text column and side heads. My H1, H2, and H3 are right-aligned within the side head, so they look something like this:

 

                      HERE IS    Here is the text in the text column. blah blah b

THE GLORIOUS SIDE    blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah

                    HEADING    blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blahblah

                                        blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blahblahblah

                                        blah blah blahblah blah blah blahblah

 

Like that. Let's say that the side heading has the H1 tag. It is right-aligned within the side heading.

 

I have attached a .css that has these attributes for H1:

 

p.H1 {

margin-left: 0.000pt;

margin-right: 0.000pt;

text-align: left;

text-indent: 0.000pt;

margin-top: 12.000pt;

margin-bottom: 4.000pt;

font-family: Arial;

font-style: normal;

font-weight: bold;

font-size: 18.0pt;

background-color: none;

letter-spacing: 0.00em;

color: #005ba8;

text-decoration: none;

 

It sure looks to me as if the H1 should be left-aligned in the .chm file. But it is not. It is right-aligned, as are the H2 and H3 styles.

 

What is overriding the css? Thanks very much.

I meet all of the min. sys req for installing FM15. I have downloaded it and tried to install it more times than I can count, both on a laptop and a desktop both running Windows 7 with Service Pack 1. It appears to be installing, as it chugs along for 30 or more minutes. At the end, I get a message saying that it couldn't install with a link to an error summary file which doesn't exist. I have Creative Cloud and InDesign on my computer, perhaps there is an incompatibility.

 

I am beyond frustrated.

Hi there,

 

Frame 2015 comes with DITA Open Toolkit 2.1. I would like to use OT 2.3 because it supports additional languages for PDF transformations. I know how to modify 'ditafm.ini' to make Frame use another OT. But I don't know if Frame would work with OT 2.3 or newer. Has anybody tried this?

Hello

 

I've been using FM for 18 years at my job.   I use different versions of FM.  This issue is happening on FM9.

I recently noticed that my smart quotes are not working.

When I hit the quotation mark key, a question mark is displayed instead.

I remember this happened once before but I can't remember how I fixed it.

The font I'm using is Helvetica. I've tried changing to Arial and Times New Roman and still get the same results.

 

If I find an existing smart (curly) quote in the document, I can copy and paste it to the desired location.  But I cannot create a new curly quote.

 

Please help!

How do I format a specific type of text to be formatted to the right on an HTML output?

Here is the layout in FrameMaker. The code names are formatted to the Right just like I want it.

 

Here is a picture of the HTML output. The code names become integrated with the text. Not what I want.

Hi,

 

I inherited a very large FrameMaker document that was originally created in FrameMaker 9. The person had a complex (and ridiculous) system of importing the Frame book into Madcap Flare to generate the Help File (and it usually took 3 to 4 tries to make it work).

 

I purchased FrameMaker 2015 so that I could publish the Help file straight from FrameMaker. However, it has been 6 weeks and I still haven't successfully managed to publish.

 

The Book consists of about 20 chapters. There were thousands of cross-references, several conditional Tags, and quiet a few variables. When I attenpt to publish, it will get a few chapters deep, then it just hangs.

 

If I remove all the files from the book and attempt to publish a few files at a time, I'm successful. However, there are a few files that still won't publish, even on their own. The pop-up appears and says it is converting, but it goes on forever.

 

I originally thought it might be an issue with the number of cross-references or conditions, so I removed EVERYTHING from the document. But no matter what I do, there are a few files that simply will not publish and I am forced to force quit FrameMaker each and every time.

 

I've scoured the internet to determine the cause, but I'm stumped. Is there something obvious that I must be doing wrong?

ADOBE FLASH PLAYER IS EMBEDDED IN MY NOTEBOOK HP.  AFTER MICROSOFT UPDATES, I CANNOT USE TO DOWNLOAD BOOKS, WILL ONLY SAVE ON ACSM FILE.  IT USUALLY SAVES ON EPUB FILE ON PDF FILE.  I CANNOT UNDO THE UPDATE.

Please forgive if this has been asked previously ... as always the case, the timing couldn't be worse and I have a book due to print.

 

My colleague made a pdf of this 1,000+ page book, and Frame gave him a message indicating it ran out of memory. This has happened before.

 

What hasn't happened before: Every file in the book now crashes Frame on open. Even the backup files in the same folder crash it. 

 

Files for another book work just fine.

 

For what it's worth (not much, I know) the error codes on my system and the ones on his system are totally different.

 

Help if you can, please!

Hi everyone,

 

I have a question about your experience with free fonts. This feels like a risk to me, but a coworker would like to use Entypo for caution and note icons, in place of using tables with real icons.

 

Can you please share your experience with this, good or bad?

Are there issues over time with unsupported fonts?

Embedding issues?

Operating system upgrade issues?

FrameMaker upgrade issues?

Acrobat upgrade issues?

 

I want to be sure that we are not creating more future problems than what we are trying to solve.

Hi, I want to delete the indentation marks in HTML . The text in the FrameMaker document does not have indentation marks and the left and right spacing is set to 0. How do I accomplish this in HTML?

I do not want the first line of text to be indented in HTML. How do I change this in FrameMaker?

Hi, some page in my document need t have a grey banner down the outside page. I have added a rectangle to the outside edge of the master page for these pages, placed outside the text frame. How to I get it to print outside the page? I can't seem to see or access past the edge of the page? Thanks in advance.

I am trying to create a List of References for my imported graphics. I was able to do this in earlier versions. I've read this is not working in 12. Is this true? If so, is there a work around to be able to produce this LOR?

error message is "Internal Error 13024, 4473540, 4473834, 7600321. FrameMaker has detected a serious problem and must quit"

 

Can someone tell me what I need to do to correct this?

Hi there, since a few months ago I've a problem with Framemaker 12.

When I'm formatting a book another flow apears at the end of the book.

The second flow has the same Tag and I only can get rid of it by deleting the pages.

Normaly a save makes the book page even and deletes al the empty pages in the back.

When I have the second flow it won't work like that.

Today I'm formatting a book and when I choose a none-masterpage for a page there's a second flow appearing in the middle of my book.

How does this happen, why does this happen? Hopefully you have an answer for me. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

 

I am hoping some Adobe lurkers will be out here and be able to give me some help. I would like to use some FrameMaker WebDAV commands with ExtendScript. I tried following the examples for F_ApiCallClient in the FDK Programmer's Reference, but I can't get them to work. Does anyone have any example scripts that I can start with? Thank you very much.

Hi,

 

I am creating tables in my FrameMaker document to format equations in the middle of the webpage and equation codes at the left of the webpage. This is the output I am receiving currently. I need the equation and the equation code to be inline with each other. Is there a way for me to do this in the FrameMaker document?

 

Below is an example of the results I want. It is a PDF but I need to replicate this into HTML.
