Inaccurate size printing of saving to PFD in 2015
I'm a retired EE who has used FrameMaker starting with version 1 from Frame Technologies, up until I retired, at which time I chose not to upgrade my then-current Frame 6.0. I still use FrameMaker for all kinds of jobs. perhaps not to the depth as when I was in industry. Recently, I've found there's a good market locally for formatting books for print, something I used to do a lot of, but I ran into a problem.
In 6.0, when I printed a book file with 5.5" x 8.5" to PDF with crop marks, I found the print size was not accurate, and was in fact 5.2" x 8.3" between the crop marks. I read online that this was a known bug in 6.0, so I just bought a subscription to 2015, and installed it. While the setup is a bit different, it's enough like 6.0 that I didn't feel baffled, but my PDFs with printer's marks are still about 3.7% small, and submissions to Amazon CreateSpace complain about those borders.
Does anyone have any experience with this? (I hope I found the right forum, but none of the choices seemed to apply)(Hmmm, I also don't see any place to enter a user name)

Problems related to VM, remote access and FDK API?
I have a WPF application written in C# that successfully uses the FDK API through a C++\CLI wrapper. Whenever, I use the application locally in my machine with Adobe FrameMaker 2015 (version 13.0.4.532) and FDK2015 everything works as expected. However, when I use the same application (same EXE, DLLs) in a remote machine with remote desktop the application works partially. The FDK API misbehaves in some of its calls. I works but partially. I really don't know why this is happening. Any help?

Kern punctuation after equation
We are setting a book in FrameMaker 11 that has hundreds of inline equations. One of the problems we are running into is the punctuation after an equation. In particular, periods and commas are too far away from the equation. The last time we set the book we opened the equations and put the punctuation inside the equation. The author is not happy with this approach as it could compromise the equations.
Is there a way to kern the punctuation and the equation as you would with 2 individual letters? It doesn't seem to work on equations.

Is there any way to rename book file names 'in bulk'?
Before I post a feature request, I'd like to know if there is any way to change book file names other than by doing it one file at a time in the book. I can't be the only person who has needed to rename a set of book files all in the same way. For example, change book files from Alpha-1Intro, Alpha-2Getting Started, Alpha-3Doing X, and so on, to Beta-1Intro, Beta-2Getting Started, etc. For these cases, a filename "bulk replace" function that would allow you to change part of the names in the same way would be so helpful. Is this asking too much, or is it too unique a need? Thanks

Is it possible to map Word "styles" to FM ?tags?
Newbie to FM (well, not exactly, as I used in on a Unix machine long, long ago).

Is it possible to use the Word style-to-?tag? mapping (not sure of FM's terminology) to ease content development?
That is, working from an existing FM file with an array of paragraph and character stylizations, can I create styles in Word whose style names correspond exactly to those in the existing FM file? And will the conversion neatly and simply turn the Word content into the correctly-styled FM result?

Dynamic ANSI safety table
Hi
I would like to add to the template ours structuerd framemaker (11.0.2.384) a dynamic ansi safety table.
it should look like:
the technical writer shoud be able to choose a ANSI Safety item.
all pictures should be choosable only the text (white space) should be written by the technical writer.
So far i bult the table (above picture) in the tamplate on the working page, the pictures are frames added by cell properties from the reference page.
In the EDD I started a table but i have now idea how to connect theme and make it dynamical.
Thise are te posibilitys to fill this table 25languages, minimum 10 pictures on the left, 5 safety states, 3 Pictures on the right.
has any one allready donne something lik this?
is it possible?
what would be the easyesed way?

Hi, I have not found any info about how to do a slient installation of adobe FrameMaker 2015.
My goal: do a silent installation with my valid serialkey and automatic updates enabled.
Is there any command line reference to use?, do I need any special adobetool?.

Framemaker 2015 Internal Error 13034, 5773451, 5775433, 5800975
Hello,
we already had this Problem with the Framemaker 12 and we upgrade to 2015 because we thought, the problem is fixed.
If we create new conditions as a conditional text and then formats and assigns, FrameMaker crashes. The problem occurs in existing documents where already conditions assigned.
I already create a Bugbase and sent this Problem to fmerror@adobe.combut I did not get a response.
Can somebody help me?

FM12, headings display differently on output than in source.
I have made sure that all OverviewHeadings used have the same fonts and sizes but when I convert to HTML some of the pages display a different font and size. Not sure what is causing this. Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.

Generate DITA-OT output doesn't produce anything (wrong version of Java?)
FrameMaker 2015: I am unable to generate anything from the "DITA > Generate DITA-OT output" menu command.
First problem was that trying any of the three output options in the Generate DITA-Output menu produced a command window with this error:
Unable to locate tools.jar. Expected to find it in c:\ProgramData\Adobe\CS5\lib\tools.jar.
Buildfile: c:\Program Files (x85)\Adobe\AdobeFrameMaker2015\fminit\ditafm\DITA-OT\build.xml
I had no c:\ProgramData\Adobe\CS5\lib folder, but found a "\lib\tools.jar" file in my Java directory, and copied the "lib" folder to the location that FM was looking for.
That at least made that error message go away, but produced a log file with this error:
BUILD FAILED
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\AdobeFrameMaker2015\fminit\ditafm\DITA-OT\build.xml:113: The following error occurred while executing this line:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\AdobeFrameMaker2015\fminit\ditafm\DITA-OT\plugins\org.dita.base\build_init.xm l:99: java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: org/dita/dost/invoker/ExtensibleAntInvoker : Unsupported major.minor version 51.0
Does this mean that I have the wrong version of Java -- if so, which version should I have? Or does it mean something else?

Referenced font weight does not exist
Framemaker 12:- I have set up an EDD with Context paragraph formatting. When importing into my document, the Log file displays two messages:-
Referenced font weight (12pt) does not exist. Property was not imported.
Referenced font weight (14pt) does not exist. Property was not imported.
I have looked in my font directories and the font families are there (I tried Arial and Calibri). In the Framemaker size drop-down, 12pt and 14pt are displayed. In another context rule, 18pt Calibri was specified and that worked OK.
Can anyone advise me how to resolve this?

How to identify master page override
I think the search for this forum must be broken. Surely there have been questions over the years that use the term "override."
Anyway, every time I switch from a certain master page to the body, I get the message asking if I want to maintain the override. I have looked and looked and cannot figure out what on the body page is overriding the master page.
How can I find out what Framemaker is choking on? I'm using FM 12 in Windows 7.

Different Column Widths (Template)
Hello,
I am trying to setup a template where the first page is in a 2 column format but the columns are a different width (Left -> 18 pica / Right -> 16 Pica).
When I try to do this in Format -> Page Layout -> Column Layout it moves the left margin in instead of changing the left columns width.
Does anyone know how I can achieve the layout I need?

How do I get HTML Help to publish headings as sub-layers?
I have an older Framemaker 7 book that I imported into Framemaker 2015. When I go to publish the HTML help each chapter gets generated as a book but there is only one level below each (no nested topics). I want to have sub-levels within each chapter.

After upgrading to FrameMaker 2015 update 4, "Publisher" console message appears
Hello Framers,
Several of my team members recently upgraded to update 4.
FrameMaker 2015 update 4 (2015.0.4)
Now they get a console message (appears to be benign) as follows:
"C:\Program Files [x86]\Adobe\AdobeFrameMaker2015\fmInit\Publisher"
There's really no reason for the message. The Publisher directory is found and has the FMPublisher.dll file in it. So far these folks haven't run into an issue, but this is a strange console message for them to be getting. Makes me hesitate to upgrade.
