Yesterday I purchased and downloaded the Tech Comm Suite (upgrade with RoboHelp11). RH2015, Acrobat and FrameMaker all installed with no issues. However, I don't see Captivate and Presenter anywhere. My understanding is that they were supposed to be included as well. How do I get them?

I have a document authored in FM 7 and in iSpec2200. I wish to make it S1000D compliant and save the output in XML. Please note I have FM10 now and Mekon S1000D plug-in too. Any experts to help me out?

Adobe FrameMaker has stopped responding
Had problems with Adobe FrameMaker 7, then 11 for many years now. Each time I start dragging the cursor over a series of paragraphs, or holding the mouse button while selecting tracts too long, it stops responding. I put it down to incompatibility with Windows XP as per Troubleshoot system errors and freezes in FrameMaker 9 (Windows XP) . I also thought it could be my laptop or a corrupted file so installed FM time and again.
Two weeks ago, I upgraded my laptop to the latest Dell Precision 16 which came loaded with Windows 10. I also upgraded to Adobe FrameMaker 15. And voila.... THE SAME PROBLEM! Adobe FM15 also STOPS RESPONDING even with all these brand new investments. Watching the ever-turning wheel go round and round is very frustrating!!!!
I was about to refer FrameMaker to other colleagues but this puts a stop to that unless maybe someone out there can provide a solution.
Any ideas?

Prevent FM from converting hex characters?
Is there any way to prevent FrameMaker from replacing the hex characters that I enter with the actual symbol?
For example, I enter (in code view), √ save, and then close. When I go back into the file and look in code view (or even if I switch between WYSIWYG and Code views), Frame replaces the hex entry with the actual square-root symbol. This is causing problems when I try to output to WebHelp or CHM -- the square root is replaced with a question mark. This also happens with lowercase sigma symbols and pretty much any other symbol, and even happens when I use Frame's Hex Input utility. PDF outputs OK though.

FM changes image attributes from width/height to scale
This question concerns FM2015 / DITA 1.2
When I in insert an image then FM automatically inserts appropriate width/height attributes according to the dpi that I select. However, when I change the image size after that by clicking and dragging a corner (as you usually do), then FM removes the width/height attributes and instead inserts a scale attribute.
Is there a way to avoid this? We need width/height attributes.
I am not sure if I need to look into the r/w rules, because as long as I don't touch the image the width/height attributes remain. it is only during manual changing of the image size that FM removes them.

Free Trial Period from 30 days to 3?!
I downloaded FrameMaker 2015 on Friday morning to assess whether it met my company's needs. The trial version was supposed to last 30 days, but this morning (slightly more that 48 hours later), after a crash, a message popped up ti inform me my trial had expired.
Uh...what?
How can I resolve this?

How do I add leading zeroes to a paragraph tag?
I am using FM 11 and want to create a Card No. paragraph tag in the format 1-001. The first one will be a series and the 001 needs to be a three character numeric with leading zeroes. When I tried autonumber for <$99n+> I just got "<$99N+>. How can I make this autonumber work?

Delete an attribute
Hi Scripters, I know from Russ Ward's samples how to delete an attribute value. But how do I delete the attribute itself from the element? The attribute is undefined in the document's EDD, that is, it shows as red in the structure view. FrameScript has a command for deleting an "undefined" attribute from an element, but I don't see a way to do this in ExtendScript. Any help will be appreciated. -Rick

I see that the FDK has an F_ApiDeleteUndefinedAttribute() function, but I don't see an equivalent in ExtendScript.

How do I make a chm file open full screen, or last saved size
I've been creating chm files using FrameMaker2015, and all of them open up in a small window in the corner.
I've hunted through all the settings to find a window option, to no avail.
Is there something I need to add to my HTML template page, or is there a source file I need to edit somewhere?
Using the previous software combo, the chm opened in whatever size it was last time it was opened.

Arrays are objects - really?
Dear experts and gurus,
The more I read the more I am confused. Every now and then the talk is "JS Arrays are objects and hence they are passed by reference". However, simple experiments leave my puzzled: It's the same as with light (depending on the view it behaves as waves or as particles):

The only safe assumption is that JS arrays are not treated as objects and hence are passed by value. This makes it difficult to set up functions to delete items from various arrays - for each array a distinct function is needed!
Any ideas for a general DeleteItem function ?

Preserve image references when saving as xml
I am trying to save some documents in XML format, but framemaker is creating .mif files for all the images I have referenced in the file, and I want it to continue to reference the original files, or at worst copy the images but preserve the original image format.
Any ideas, If it is possible to do this in extendscript that would be great, but I cant even figure out how to do this in the program.
Alternatively, is it possible to extract the image from the mif files that are generated.

How get index to work correctly?
I am using FM 10 on a book with index. The indexing marks work correctly, but I am unable to edit the index because it acts frozen up.
The page numbers respond to a click and send me to the right page, etc. But the words are impervious to the mouse click.
Also the numbers do not conform to the same font size as the words. Numbers are 12 point and the words 9 point. It should all be 9 point. At the top of the page, there is no option for "view" so that I can go to master pages. I have redone the index several times, wiped it out completely, but nothing changes.
I do not know whether the problem is in corrupted software or in the file I am working on.
Any ideas?
I have been doing indexes for several years and this has never happened before.

How to update an array of objects ?

I have a number of objects stored in an array.
It seems that the array does not point to the objects, but has copies of them.
The item in the array is only updated with array[index].prop notation, not with the object.prop notation.
It would be possible to always use the array[index].prop notation for an update of items, but I want to understand, why the other method does not work. And of course there should be no copies...

Some figure x-refs in FM12 are not active links in my PDF file
In unstructured FM 12, I have a book containing 3 chapters and a total of 37 figure cross-references internal to the book. (I also have x-refs to chapters and headings, but they're not the problem.) All of the figure x-refs were done in the same way, using the exact same tag-and-format combination, yet 13 of the 37 links simply do not work in the PDF file.
The bad links are in two of the three chapters, but not all links within either of those chapters are bad. The bad links are spread across 12 different pages. At least two pages contain both bad and good links.
The bad links don't show up as unresolved x-refs; they simply do not link. No error messages appear. I've tried re-doing those links--some of them multiple times--but that did not help. Also rebuilt the PDF file several times. That also did not help.
Anyone suggestions for fixing the problem?
